Vacations
After your child has attended Apple Tree Learning Center for one year, vacations are prorated at one-half the normal rate for a period of up to two weeks. A written notice offered with two week’s notice is necessary. Our vacation policy will be explained to you in full at time of enrollment. Vacations are only allowed during the months of June, July and August.

Absences
Please notify the school by 7 a.m. if your child will not be at school for the day. Tuition will be charged for each day the child is enrolled. No credit is given for daily absences or holidays. If the child is out of school for two weeks due to his or her own illness, tuition will be waived – this is the only circumstance under which tuition will be waived, and a doctor’s note will be required.

Clothing
Children should be dressed in clothing that is comfortable for free play and suitable for arts and crafts. The clothing should provide freedom for the child to go to the restroom, and you should include an extra set of clothes your child can change into if he or she needs to. All clothing should be marked. Also, each child will need a small blanket or beach towel for napping – this should also be marked.

Toys from Home
Toys from home may be brought in on sharing days determined by each teacher. However, toys representing violence are not permitted.

Birthdays
Birthdays are special days for children. A celebration, including songs, games, stories and a birthday crown will take place during snack time. Cakes or cupcakes are provided by parents. We suggest cupcakes. Please notify the teacher a few days in advance if you plan to bring refreshments. (Please do not bring balloons or decorations.)

Extended Day Care
We provide extended day care for children attending public schools. Transportation is provided to and from local schools. If your child is not going to be in school or if you pick your child up from school early, you must let the school know immediately. On days on which public school is not in session and your child attends Apple Tree Learning Center, there will be an extra charge for part- and full-time care.

Alphabet blocksKindergarten / First Grade
We offer kindergarten and first grade education from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Our curriculum consists of education in reading, spelling, math, science, computers and social studies, with a strong emphasis on reading and math.

Illness
We are concerned that each child be protected from exposure to communicable diseases. Please do not bring children who show signs of illness. When a child becomes ill at school, you will be notified to come for him or her. Children who show signs of illness will be isolated from the others. They will be comforted with individual care and attention until they are picked up.

Authorization to Pick Up Children
For the protection of your child, we will only release him or her to authorized persons. Those authorized must show identification and be listed on an authorization form kept by Apple Tree Learning Center.

Discipline
Our staff is trained to use a positive verbal approach for discipline. They follow a school policy of redirecting a child’s undesirable actions into positive and socially acceptable behaviors. Parents, teachers and staff members work as a team to ensure that Apple Tree Learning Center meets each child’s individual needs.

Arrival
Children may arrive at 6 a.m. Please sign in on the sign-in sheet.

Dismissal
All children must be picked up by 6 p.m. We must impose a penalty of $1 per minute if someone must stay with your child after closing time. After all, your children want – and need – to be with you whenever possible!
